More information on the Border Battle

The inaugural Border Battle, race #9 in the 2008 Wisconsin Off Road Series (WORS) and the eighth race of the 2008 Minnesota State Championship Series (MNSCS) will be held on August 24th. After a successful merging of these two series in 2005 in Eau Claire it was deemed time to do it again with a new twist. Residents of Minnesota and Wisconsin will compete for bragging rights and a traveling trophy as part of this exciting new race.
The Route Bike Shops and local MTB club Kinnickinnic Off-Road Cyclists bring the Border Battle along with this new venue to you.

White Tail Ridge Corporate Park, in River Falls, plays host to this soon to be popular event. The trails at White Tail Ridge present a course to racers that is a challenging mix of predominantly single and double track with some areas of wide-open field sections for added passing opportunities. For a preview of the course, check out the vertical rides on www.theroute.net and www.kinnioffroad.com.
Racers can test their metal by swapping out their knobbies (or not) for some slick tires for Saturday’s Fat Tire Crit. This event promises to provide a great warm up for Sunday’s cross-country race with a few hot laps on the industrial park roads.

Onsite camping, a Learn to Race Clinic, the Fat Tire Crit, the amazing hospitality of River Falls, and great trails will make the Border Battle a mountain biker dream weekend.
Conveniently located just south of interstate 94, a short drive from the Minneapolis area, and with easy access from most Wisconsin locals, the Border Battle beckons all to come witness and participate in this fun event. We invite you to spend the weekend with us!

Course Description

Racers can expect to ride flowing, fast hardpack singletrack; roots and rocks; short, steep downhill and uphill sections; uphill switchbacks; grassy, wide open field sections; technical climbs; and a generous amount of flowing doubletrack. This course will challenge every level of racer, and can be described as being similar to the Lowes Creek trails, in Eau Claire, with even more singletrack.
