Series Guidelines and Registration Updated for 2009

The Series Guidelines have been posted for 2009.  There are a few changes from last season.  Entry Fees for most classes have increased.  We are aware that racing budgets will be tighter in 2009 for many of our competitors.  Due to increases in insurance and other expenses we have increased entry fees.  We made no increases to entry fees for any racers under the age of 18.

We are offering new ways for you to save money on entry fees in 2009 including the SuperPass and new online registration with lower fees.  The SuperPass allows you to sign up for all of the Series events at once (with the exception of the Border Battle).  When signing up for the SuperPass you receive 10 races for the price of 9 and you only pay one online registration fee.  In addition, the first 20 riders who sign up for the SuperPass will receive a signed and numbered limited edition silk screened series poster by local artist Adam Turman.

Our start times for 2009 remain unchanged with one small exception.  Our Shimano Youth Series Race will now begin before the Expert/Comp field.  We will run the kids at
12:45 PM and then the Expert/Comp field will start at 1:15 PM.  This will give Expert/Comp parents the opportunity to participate in the kids race and will allow us to showcase our future generation of racers.

Our Series scoring will be similar to 2009.  With a total of 11 events in 2009 Sport riders will now be scored on their best 7 results which is one more that last year.  Bonus points will now be tiered for all racers.  Each participant who competes in more than seven events will be awarded five (5) bonus points for the first additional event, ten (10) bonus points for the second additional event, fifteen (15) bonus points for the third additional event, etc.  Any rider starting the race qualifies for the bonus points.

We have aligned the two lower age groups in the 2009 Comp Class to 15 & 16, and 17 & 18 to match the USA Cycling age groups.  We have seen a group of strong young riders moving up the ranks with some having the desire to compete outside of the Series.

Our Team Competition is back for 2009.  This year
John Oman has volunteered to coordinate the team information and tabulate the weekly results.  The deadline for team submissions is May 11, 2009.  For more details check out the Series Guidelines.

In response to feedback from riders we will be instituting three changes for this season.  Starting line call ups for the leaders in our Series standings will happen at each event.  At the first event of the season we will call up last years Series Champions.  We will also be using chip timing at every event in 2009 to provide more accurate scoring.  Lastly we will be providing overall Series standings at the Class level.  There will be no awards for these standings and they will be only for riders to compare themselves to others outside of their age group within a given class. This information will only be accurate for if all of the riders in a given class complete the same course distance.

We look forward to seeing you at the races and welcome your feedback anytime.
